Sculptra

Sculptra is an injectable dermal filler that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Sculptra provides an increase in skin thickness, helping to create a more natural facial appearance in those with facial lipoatrophy (loss of fat beneath the skin). It provides a gradual and significant increase in facial volume which results in improved appearance of wrinkles, nasolabial folds (smile lines), sunken areas and other facial defects.

Sculptra uses a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid. This is a biocompatible (does not harm the body), biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body) material that has been widely used for many years in surgical procedures and its effects are long-lasting. Sculptra is not made from human or animal sources and does not require a skin test.

To achieve desired results, the Sculptra filler is injected beneath the skin, under the dermis and the subcutis layer, through various injection spots which are identified by the doctor who performs the treatment. To ease any pain which may be experienced by the needle, a local numbing cream or anesthetic may be applied. The whole procedure takes about 20-30 minutes to complete and patients are able to return home or to their normal activities quickly.

The results from Sculptra are not immediate; Sculptra provides a gradual increase in skin thickness. During your first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra worked immediately because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before your treatment. Typically, 3-4 sessions, spread out over a few months, usually at intervals of 4-6 weeks (in proportion to the patient’s needs and goals), are enough to deliver the needed results. Of course, the total number of the treatment sessions can vary from one person to another. After your first Sculptra treatment in Rancho Cucamonga, Dr. Vidor will see you a few weeks later to decide if additional injections are needed.

Generally, Sculptra is a safe way of rejuvenating facial features, as long as the patient does not have any allergy or sensitivity issues. However, some patients may experience adverse reactions. These include redness, bruising, swelling, itching or tenderness on the treated areas. Most side effects clear up on their own within a few weeks. To find out if Sculptra is an appropriate treatment for your skin, contact Inland Aesthetic Institute today at 909-344-3672 or website to schedule a consultation with Dr. Vidor.
